Chait lists the reasons for the I-hate-Dean blog. I have a simple answer:

Dude, you don't have to explain. This is (still) a free country. But, if you want to be taken seriously, try the following:

a) offer up real evidence. I realize that a lot of what you write is opinion, but if it is not informed opinion based on some facts / evidence, you are no more credible than the Freeper types.

b) Don't just say 'Dean will take us down with him'. Say who won't and why not? For instance, why would a fervent Southern Baptist who hates the Secular (but Christian) Dean vote for a practising jew?

light blogging due to the holidays and due to the fact that chait has stayed off his diary.

the last entry starts off on the 'Dean is aggressively secular and therefore unelectable' theme.

Let us examine that theme some.

First of all, the 'south' voted solidly with GWB. The so-called bible belt is pretty much a lost cause for Dems, so, does it matter if Dean is 'aggressively secular'? probably not, it does not affect his electoral college chances much.

Having said that, I liked Dean's answer in yesterdays debate. I hope he learns to talk about God with sincerity while addressing Southerners who may be openly religious.

But do we really want to elect Presidents based on the depth of their faith? If so, Pat Robertson would have ben President. Instead we chose Bush I, who, if I recall correctly, was pretty secular himself.

So, burn that little paper Jonathan, it ain't flying.
